Mission, Values & Objectives

Mundo Exchange transforms the lives of children, families, and communities by tackling poverty and providing opportunities for equality.

We at Mundo Exchange envision a world FREE of poverty, with equal opportunities and empowerment for everyone, despite pre-existing or forced circumstances.

All world citizens have a right to a dignified life. Mundo Exchange believes that all people, no matter their lifestyles, economic standing, background, or circumstance, deserve to be treated with dignity, compassion and respect.

All people have the right to adequate health care, nutrition, education, safe home environments, and equal opportunity. We at Mundo Exchange collaborate with local hospitals, village leaders, churches, and various other organizations and associations to empower women, educate children, build safer homes for families, and encourage environmentally friendly practices within communities.

We at Mundo Exchange support projects that are locally driven, culturally responsive, sustainable over time, and that ultimately build individual and community self-sufficiency and self-determination in order to enable them to represent their interests in a responsible and self-determined way, acting on their own authority. Our projects have included teaching English in rural schools while boosting children’s confidence, self-knowledge and self-esteem; partnering with social services to ensure women and children who are victims of domestic violence have a to safe space to rebuild their lives and find their voice; collaborating with local hospital staff to help make medical care accessible to the poorest and most marginalized; and partnering with local farmers to teach community members how to grow their own nutritious foods.

With your help we can combine resources, knowledge, and skills of international volunteers, donors, and local community members to complete projects that improve the lives of the communities we serve.

Mundo Exchange is strongly supported by volunteers, who make up a majority of our on the ground team and create the pulse of our organization.

Don’t have time to volunteer but still want to help? Fortunately there is more than one way to make a difference! You can become a sponsor or donate to our cause. You can also help spread the word and raise awareness by fundraising within your own community!

Like slavery and apartheid, poverty is not natural.

It is man-made, and it can be overcome and eradicated by the actions of human beings.

And overcoming poverty is not a gesture of charity. It is an act of justice.

It is the protection of a fundamental human right, the right to dignity and a decent life.
